Am I with the right person?

When Rockstar and I were dating, there were many times that I ask myself this question. And Rockstar, being the deep thinker philosopher guy, he told me this... which I thought it make sense. Every since, I've tried telling others when they asked me this kind of questions... but its hard to put in in the right words.

However, I read this on the web and found it to absolutely right on the dot.. So yeah, read it and let me know if you agree with me or not. :)

AM I WITH THE RIGHT PARTNER?

During a seminar, a woman asked," How do I know if I am with the right person?"

The author then noticed that there was a large man sitting next to her so he said, "It depends. Is that your partner?" In all seriousness, she answered "How do you know?" Let me answer this question because the chances are good that it's weighing on your mind replied the author.

Here's the answer.

Every relationship has a cycle… In the beginning; you fall in love with your partner. You anticipate their calls, want their touch, and like their idiosyncrasies. Falling in love wasn't hard. In fact, it was a completely natural and spontaneous experience. You didn't have to DO anything. That's why it's called "falling" in love.

People in love sometimes say, "I was swept of my feet."Picture the expression. It implies that you were just standing there; doing nothing, and then something happened TO YOU.

Falling in love is a passive and spontaneous experience. But after a few months or years of being together, the euphoria of love fades. It's a natural cycle of EVERY relationship.

Slowly but surely, phone calls become a bother (if they come at all), touch is not always welcome (when it happens), and your spouse's idiosyncrasies, instead of being cute, drive you nuts. The symptoms of this stage vary with every relationship; you will notice a dramatic difference between the initial stage when you were in love and a much duller or even angry subsequent stage.

At this point, you and/or your partner might start asking, "Am I with the right person?" And as you reflect on the euphoria of the love you once had, you may begin to desire that experience with someone else. This is when relationships breakdown.

The key to succeeding in a relationship is not finding the right person; it's learning to love the person you found.

People blame their partners for their unhappiness and look outside for fulfilment  Extramarital fulfilment comes in all shapes and sizes.

Infidelity is the most common. But sometimes people turn to work, a hobby, friendship, excessive TV, or abusive substances. But the answer to this dilemma does NOT lie outside your relationship. It lies within it.
I'm not saying that you couldn't fall in love with someone else. You could. And TEMPORARILY you'd feel better. But you'd be in the same situation a few years later.

Because (listen carefully to this):

The key to succeeding in a Relationship is not finding the right person; it's learning to love the Person you found.

SUSTAINING love is not a passive or spontaneous experience. You have to work on it day in and day out. It takes time, effort, and energy. And most importantly, it demands WISDOM. You have to know WHAT TO DO to make it work. Make no mistake about it.

Love is NOT a mystery. There are specific things you can do (with or without your partner), Just as there are physical laws Of the universe (such as gravity), there are also laws for relationships. If you know how to apply these laws, the results are predictable.

Love is therefore a "decision". Not just a feeling.

Remember this always: God determines who walks into your life. It is up to you to decide who you let walk away, who you let stay, and who you refuse to let GO..

Such a busy year but amazing too... It was a roller-coaster ride but as 2012 draws to a close, I am looking forward to 2013 and wondering what it will bring on. Lots of plans but will leave all to God.  He has shown me just how Awesome life can be when I put my life, my husband and everything into His hands.

Good-bye 2012!

Why I say NO to Zalora

Zalora is the hype of internet shopping now and everyone seems to be caught up with it. However, I have a different experience with them that I wish to record and share with everyone.

I received a RM30 voucher from Marche when I dine there with my family in July. And as usual, being a Malaysian, we set it aside until its almost too late. The voucher was only valid until the 15th of July and when I realized it (which was on July 15th), I quickly went into the website and started browsing. This was my first time using and I was pleasantly surprise with the varieties. I spotted a kaftan that I like and placed an order for it. It didn't get through. After a few tries, I decided not to proceed further. I know the voucher with expire at the stroke of midnight but thought that I will try my luck the next day.

Next morning, I called Zalora up and the girl who took my queries was very nice. I explained to her my predicament and when she said that the voucher can still be used, I proceeded with placing a phone order with her. Since I wasn't comfortable with giving payment details over the phone, she said she will email me the invoice, where I will have to make payment via Maybank2u. An hour later, she called me back asking if I have received the invoice. I told her no and after checking, we realized the email address she type in was wrong. She said she will email me again.

I waited. Nothing.

I decided to give them some time.

2 days later, I called up and guess what!!! No such record. They can't find my name or my email address or even my order. I wasn't very happy but decided to give it another try. I placed an order again and the guy who took my order said that he will check and get back to me. A couple of hours later, he called back, wanting to place my order but without luck. The item that I wanted was SOLD OUT!!! I was disappointed and NOT HAPPY! I really like that kaftan and I have been looking for the exact one for ages. The guy told me that the item will be restock and he will call me to let me know when the new stock came in. I agreed.

Guess what!! No news.

The beginning of August, I was in 1 Utama Shopping Complex and spotted the Zalora voucher at the Boost Kiosk. I decided to give it another try. I went home, browse the website for the kaftan and YES! it was there. However, the price have gone up about RM8+. I called up to check and another guy took my orders. I asked if the price can be reduced to the previous amount since it was their mistake that I didn't get to purchase the kaftan. I can't recall correctly but I think he took 1-2 days to call me back with the answer. And when he did, the answer was 'No'. Not one to argue over an extra RM8 for a kaftan that I really liked, I placed an order.

Guess what?? Its now end of August and no emails, no calls, nothing.

I still did not get my kaftan.

This is not my 1st time purchasing online. I have been doing it for the last couple of years and have my share of the good and bad sellers. Zalora takes the prize for one of the worst. For such a big and apparently established company, they should at least get their process and customer service right. They provide phone orders??? Pffttt... 3 strikes and Zalora, you are out.

p.s. ---> I know I have their banners all over my blog but I got no idea how to remove them.

Super Me!

Decisions! Decisions! Decisions! So many to make....

I was just chatting with someone whom I respect and look up to and I found out some really disappointing news. Working with young people have never been easy. Yet sometimes I feel so overwhelmed. We do so much yet results its so little. And often times, I feel like I've let them down. Its just not enough. I wish I have more time. More time to spend building them, talking to them, understanding them, encouraging them, being their friend. We lose them bit by bit each day. And time gone by are just gone.

Every  time I find out that I lose one, part of me dies with them.

It's just so disappointing. Like I've let them down.

And its the time of the year where promotions and recognitions will be done. Arrgghhh!!! So difficult. So much pressure. A wrong decision can either destroy a person or build them up. What should I do? One more day, just one more day.

She told me, 'You are not the Saviour'.

True

But I'm Super Wonder Woman!!!! :p

* I got this off my McD Happy Meal. My 1st in the collection of Young Justice League. It's so cool that when I press the button at the back, the eyes & 'S' logo turns blazing red and the arms punches up. Still waiting for others. Batman, y u no come out faster?

Ramblings of a soon-to-be-mrs

life is kinda crazy... lots of changes... lots of decisions. at the end of the day, all i want to do is just plop myself in front of the tv, slap on a mask and just de-stress. so what's up lately? working out the business stuff with my dad and guess what, I am now a business woman, running my own God's company. signed and certify in hard copy. of cos we still have paper work to settle but all is good. wedding planning is on schedule, i think. invitations are done, just waiting to be delivered. government documents signed and registered. caterers have been confirmed. will be going for food tastings next week. oh, that reminds me, I need to select the menu. i'm also working out the decor with my sister, who unfortunately was down with dengue for a week. but she's is fine now. still have videographer, make-up trial, wedding cake, wedding bands, wedding flavours, liquor and bridal attire (jewellery, veil, lingerie) on my to-do list. oh, we have also been house hunting. and planning our honeymoon. accommodations settled, transportation and attraction pass all settled. oh, i must go for my french classes soon. been skipping last couple of weeks.

bb parade is off this week but we will be having fund-raising bowling competition, which i sort of volunteer myself to be there by 8.30am till 6pm. next week, our company will be having its awards day. the week after, we will be having an officers outing. and on the last week, there will be a training camp and a junior outing. its going to be a busy busy month...

I'm going to be a mrs. in 1 and a half months time...

gosh. i think i need to spend more time preparing myself. most women spends a substantial amount of their time and resources planning their wedding, which will take only 1 or 2 days. which is good since a wedding should be a once-in-a-lifetime event. but a marriage is for life. so i need to spend more time working on my marriage, not just my wedding. need to start preparing myself to be a better wife - learn to cook, learn not to be so lazy, learn to listen. no, i'm not turning into a submissive backbone-less woman. im still a post feminist at heart, and i love being one. and being a post feminist believes that a man should be the head of the house and we, as women have our rightful place besides him - supporting, helping, assisting, encouraging, growing. i believe that a wife should be strong, capable, hard-working, able to make wise decisions,  able to support her husband. i believe that every husband will need a wonder woman in their life :p

no time to blog.. please excuse me k. I will try my best... really...

being patient..

My mum is not the most IT-savvy person in the word. She first learned how to switch on a computer last year and since then have progress slowly.

When my dad got her the new ipad recently; she still have not grasp the concept of internet, web, google, apple and android, and oh, so many other things. And me being at home most of the time, became her source of helpdesk. It gets frustrating sometimes... trying to explain to her how things work... over and over again.

But yesterday, something hit me...Did she feel the same when I was learning how to walk. or eat, or learn? Its had come one circle. If she could be patient with me for 27 years, why can't I do the same? Its my turn now....

I know just teaching her cannot cover back all the sacrifices she made but its worth trying..

Sorry mum. I'll try to be more patient and understanding from now on wards...

Laughing Stock

Wow! What a weekend.. So many things were happening...

I had a workshop, a big family dinner, a drill competition, another family dinner and in between stuff like house chores, facebook-ing, Draw Something, charades, movies and stuffs.. But pictures on everything later..

This has been on my mind...

2 years ago, we had a drill competition. When results were out, people were unhappy, and they requested for a recount and discovered that there was a miscalculations of marks. So what now? Results have been announced. Trophy, medals were given out. We had a big, long meeting and eventually, the decision was that the team that got the trophy will still represent the state in the national level. However, each company had to informed their members that the results were wrong.

Can you imagine what I had to go through? I HAD to go to my company 3 weeks after the competition and informed them that we were actually not the champion but we could still keep our trophy. Gosh!!! What is the point of a fake trophy?

I do understand that if I were in that position I would too. But I expect them to act like an adult and think like an adult and not get so driven by emotions. What is the point of re-announcing a new result that would not be valid? The only thing that someone can gain from that is self-satisfaction. And it proves how incompetent we are. You announced, and then you take it back. What a laughing stock!

2 years later, yesterday to be exact, we had a drill competition again. This time the results were again unexpected. Not surprisingly, people were unhappy and they are appealing for a re-calculation of marks. I really don't know what to say or think.

We did take precaution just in case what happened last year happens again. Marks were checked, and double checked and the judges sat together and discuss the results before announcing.

What do they want again? A change in the results? Are they saying the judges are wrong and that we don't respect the judges decision.

If I were in their shoes, and have lost the competition, I will tell my members that - Its OK. You have done your best. Try harder next year. God has a different plan and He have everything in control.

No such crap.. or boohoo.. or cry out "Its unfair". So what? Life is unfair. If you are meant to win, God would have let you win.

I believe that everything have a purpose. God have everything in control. If I didn't win, I'll try harder. Gosh! I had so many losses in life. Things that I wanted, that I worked so hard for but did not get. Did I sit and complain about how unfair life is? No, if I did... I am sure people will laugh at me. I carried on with my life and try harder.... again and again.

The committee did their best and I believe there are no mistakes in the marks. The judges sat together and discuss the marks and winners before announcing the results. It was all proper.

I believe it is by God's grace that we got 2nd place. And I will continue to believe that He has everything in control.. If God meant for it to be, then so be it. I will trust in Him.

So to all those who are crying out 'Its unfair'.. I feel you but I will let God be the judge.

"OMG, you look like a virgin!!!"

Yes, this was announced to about 3000 over people a couple of years back during my ex-company's annual dinner. It was held at Sunway Convention Center and they hired a transvestite to be the MC and entertainer. I was sitting at one of the forefront table and the MC was going around entertaining us. When she/he reach our table, she looked at me and exclaim, "OMG, you look like a virgin!". You cannot imagine the number of embarrassing questions  I had to go through after that.

And I am ashamed to admit I didn't know whether to tell the truth or lie. To say 'yes' would make them think I am sure a goody-two shoes or even a young innocent kid. To say 'no' would make me slutty or easy. I could not and would not want my colleagues and co-workers to have a certain impression of me.

Last Saturday, during PMC (Pre-marital Counselling) class, the topic was on Sex in Marriage. At the beginning of the session, the guys and girls were separated into 2 groups, after which we got back to share what we have discussed. What was interesting were the opinions between the sexes. One of the question asked was what would you say is the main difference between the way males view sex ad the way female view sex. And not surprisingly, both sides agreed that girls tend to view it more emotion, where else for guys, its more of the physical action. However, in the current generations, sex have increasingly became more loose - meaning its no longer viewed that its mostly guys who are sleeping around but lots of girls do it too. Sex have become so normal that both guys and girls just do it for the fun of it.

Another question was would you be OK if your spouse is not a virgin. Most of the girls said that ideally they would prefer if their spouse is a virgin. However, it would depend on situation such as how long time ago did it happened or as long that he is not cheating on me now. When the question was post to the guys, half of them said that they would be OK if their spouse is not a virgin and the other half was not OK with it. So what happens when or if you find out that your spouse is no longer a virgin?

Its interesting how people view sex this days. When I was young, I was taught that having sex is sacred and that losing ones virginity is such a taboo. But as I grew older, it became increasingly diluted. Everywhere, everyone is telling me that its OK. Its has become less wrong because everyone is doing it. And if you love the other person, that's how you show love. As I was growing up, I found out that if you are still a virgin, you are less cool because having sex its cool and if you are no longer a virgin, you are in the cool crowd. Look at the TV shows, the movies, the ads, it all tells us that having sex before and out of marriage is OK.

Its worst when you are a Christian because you are taught since young that its wrong, yet no one is going to go upright to you and ask if you are a virgin or not. What goes behind close doors nobody will know. The temptation to sin increases. The areas between black and white are becoming so grey that we can't tell what is right and wrong or what are sins anymore. Things that we do have become less and less wrong as we grow up. The world is influencing our thinking and upbringing and so often we conveniently forget that God is watching us even behind closed doors.

Have the world become so loose that eventually there will not be a virgin to be found anymore? Or that virginity is no longer prized?

One question that really struck me was, "When you become a parent, would you teach your child/children abstinence or prevention?". Imagine talking to your sons/ daughters in the future. Would you teach them the right thing or would you give them a condom and say,"Stay safe"? Abstinence or prevention? What type of parent would you be?

Sex before marriage is wrong. Sex should be enjoyed in the sacredness of marriage. And no matter how the world twist that or what people may say, its a sin and against most religions and moral values.

If that remark is posted to me again... I am no longer ashamed or embarrassed to say that, " I am still a virgin and I am proud of it." I will keep the sanctity of my marriage intact.

Up and Down, Up and down

Sometimes it goes up, sometimes it goes down.

Sometimes one is up when the other is down.

When one is down, it takes the other to help them back up.

And when another is too high up, it takes the other to bring them down.

Its helps much when it comes back down, the other holds ;

just enough so that it don't go crashing to the ground.

Sometimes, or mostly, both are at a balance.

And balance takes two to maintain it just like that.

When one stops trying, the other either falls;

or struggles just to maintain that balance.

And sometimes, when it just gets too tiring, too difficult;

it comes crashing down again.

So relationship is like a see-saw.

It takes 2 to play, 1 will be no fun at all.

So if you decide to jump onto a see-saw,

be ready, be prepared, take courage.

Would you?

Just last night, I was on my way for a meeting, driving my brother's car Green Ninja and the oil light flashed on.. Since it was rush hour and was pouring heavily, I turned into the nearest petrol station and called my dad.........

.......... and to cut the long story short, I bought some engine oil, poured it in, and 2 guys came to helped. They were parked beside my car and were sort of stranded cause their car broke down too. After some talking and stuff, one of them asked me if I could drop them off at Bandar Utama. It was pouring, they couldn't get a cab and the toll truck was only coming much later.

So many thoughts rolled into my mind... will it be safe? Should I allow 2 strangers to get in the car with me? But they seem nice. One of them even gave me his name card after finding out what I do. They were decent. And we were sort of in the same boat... car problem.. But I don't even know them. But they did help me. And if I were in their position, I would want someone to help to right? Didn't the bible teach us to help those in need? Should I? Shouldn't I? Will I leave to regret it... or even blog about it??

Yep, you guess it... I didn't not help them...

I called Rockstar and he said no *ever protective boyfriend fiance*

Now, thinking back about it... I just wonder what have the world turned into? where people are so afraid of helping others, where we are taught since young never to talk to strangers, where we all grow up knowing that there are evil people out there who wants to cause us harm. Since when have the world turn so uncivilized and evil? I wonder when will I ever get a chance to just stop and help a stranded person, or just offer my help to a random stranger, or to open my door and give a meal to someone who is hungry?

Are men evil? Or are there evil men?

If you were me, what would you do?

About eating and humility

I know I’m suppose to blog about my trip to China & Hong Kong & Macau but since I couldn’t access blogger in China and had so much time *yeah right*, I’ve edited my Philippines trip photos so will blog about this first..

Read about my trip here and here

One thing I like about Philippines is their hospitality and service towards people. Everywhere I go, I meet all kinds of people who are just so nice and hospitable; from the cleaners and gardeners at the training center who greeted us every time they pass us, to the sweepers on the street, to the waiter at the restaurant, to the co-BB workers who fed us, the men who stood up each time a lady *me* approach them, everyone, just everyone is so courteous and polite and kind. *take that people who abuse treat their Filipino maids badly. My entire perspective on Philippines changed after that trip.

And about food, during my time there, we were brought to so many places to eat. I’ve already blogged about my first dinner here. On the 2nd night, a very wet, wet, wet night, we were brought to this well-known restaurant called “Josephine” and I had my first taste of Philippines food.

Josephine

Ferocious and strong wind blowing outside.

Pineapple juice                                         Herbal Tea

Pork Knuckles. Very crunchy… *don’t you just love this place already?*

Some vegetables which I forgot the name..

Laning. A gooey, slimy-ish type of Philippine vegetables that its surprisingly very good, amidst its appearance. I really like it…

Seafood tomyam, I think.

Kare-kare. Not curry, like in Malaysian but a type of peanut broth cooked with seafood/ chicken/ meat with vegetables. Yummy!!!

Fried local fish, I can’t recall the name. Didn’t like it much as there was too much bones and so little flesh.

Our big group, sitting on a very long table.

Ube Jam is popular in Tagaytay. It is produce by Bahay Pastulan (Shepherd’s House), started by a nun. It’s so well-known that even people from all around make that long drive up just to purchase them.

Taste? Like a yam jam. Tasty and purple..

On the 3rd night and last night there, we were brought to yet another well known nrestaurant called “The Greek Tavern”, which served Greek food. It supposedly had a view overlooking the volcano but since it was pouring and misty, our view was blurred and all I could see/take were mountains covered in mist.

They had a rustic traven-ish looking place with just a hint of old elegance. I like...

Huge coconut...

Feta Cheese

Beef Lasagna

Grilled Lamb Shoulder

Towards the end of dinner, the mist lifted. However, it was already too dark to see the volcano. All I could capture was distant lights from the villages..
___________________________________

Next morning, we were brought for a breakfast buffet to this place called "Bag of Beans". Just the name of it sounded so inviting and promising.

How often do you get a buff looking guy cooking omelet for you in the morning?

Breakfast was fantastic but I was more captured by the interior of the coffee shop. There is 2 parts to the shop, one area is indoor with cosy Moroccan-ish feel and the other is outdoor garden where you can sit and enjoy the coolness of the morning breeze, hear the birds chirping, water trickling and tiny bird wind chime..erm.. chiming... There is also a resident myna bird who could talk to you and ask you "What's you name?"

___________________________________

After breakfast, we were brought to see the volcano. Finally!!! After 3 days of staying in a volcano, I get to see the volcano.. This volcano is kinda unique *maybe all volcanoes are *.. but this volcano started out like this. There was once this volcano called Taal Volcano which was originally a huge volcano towering at 18,000 feet up in the sky. And then it became small. How?A lake called "Taal Lake" formed inside the volcano and an island called the 'volcano island' appear inside the Taal Lake. The volcano island is now known as the Taal Volcano. And it is still active!!! In actual, the whole Tagaytay is part of the volcano ridge.

Hotel Taal Vista which had the best panoramic view of the Taal Volcano.

This is us posing on an actual volcano ridge - Tagaytay Ridge, which belongs to Taal Volcano.
Francis, me, Angie, Mr. J, Mr. Low

Maybe 1 day I will be back to take a hike into the Taal Volcano, the island volcano in the middle of Taal Lake...

As we near the place, the van had to slow down as there were street children playing and running in the middle of the street like its their backyard. However, they know when its the time to attend classes at the community center. Just look at the joy on their faces as they learn to sing a new song "Dalam Yesus, Kita Bersaudara" which Francis taught during the training camp. Even thought they don't understand the words, they sing loudly and with all their hearts. I just wonder when will the children back in 10th KL ever sing like this..

Their playground in the community center. The children in Malaysia should see this playground and thank God for their beautiful, colourful playground... The building on the right is were a church is being build now with rooms on the ground floor for school classes.

Thank you Mr. J for all your generosity and kindness..

I left Philippines humbled. Sometimes, we all need trips like this to put our thoughts/ life/ work back into perspective...

Make a difference... somewhere, somehow....
