Mongolian Steamboat @ Xiao Fei Yang

My dad fell in love with Mongolian Steamboat ever since Edwin (me twinnie's boy) brought him to try it. And every once in a while, they would drive all the way to Pudu to sweat over its spicy goodness. When the restaurant in Pudu closed, the were so disappointed until they discovered another one located so close by at Damansara Uptown. I finally had the chance to go try it with them one evening... 

We had a combination of Herbal Soup and Hot & Spicy Soup *also known as Mah Lat Soup as it contains a mixture of Mah Lat (Peppercorn) and some other spicy stuff*. My dad likes it spicy so we order extra helping of Mah Lat mixture... Mah Lat Soup is known as a Mongolian dish. However, it originated from Sze Chuan, China. 

They have a wide variety of choices.  Prices are average. Of cos you can get in much cheaper if you purchase from the wet market, but for a clean air-condition restaurant, its ok..  

Some of the food we ordered. The slice beef and chicken was really fresh... and of cos, I cannot have steamboat without my favourite meat balls and yee mee and fuh chok.. :)

Yummy soup.. The Herbal Soup was nice but the Mah Lat Soup lacked ommphh! According to my dad and Edwin, the soup wasn't that good this time...  They didn't feel the "shiok-ness' of the spicy peppercorn soup.. 

Oh, their sauces is a must-try. Its something unique that I have not tasted before. Rockstar didn't like it but for me, it goes well with the freshly boiled food. My brother loves it and pile a whole chuck of its black stuff on every bite. Remember to dip in both sauces as they go better together..  

I can't really judge as this is my first time trying it besides the Mah Lat fish I had in China. It was a good meal with good food and *as usual* good company. However, I left the place feeling that something was missing. Not sure if its the soup or something else... but will definitely go back for 2nd round :)

Magical Musicals @ Sunway Lagoon

I was given the chance to attend the Magical Musicals, A West End Production last month but didn't have the time to post in up 'cos as usual I took hundreds of pictures and needed some time to screen through them... :)

 Anyway, here's what happened... Upon arriving at Sunway Lagoon Theme Park, there was already a long line of people queing up...

 The Story 

(as told in the booklet)

The show opens in Times Square, New York - the very heart of the Broadway Theatre District. Auditions are being held for a new show. Six budding actors leave the auditions and are all in New York for One Night Only. 

Megan and Danny are a thirty-something couple from Seattle. Their relationship has reached a turning point and they are desperate the leave their hometown and work in the Big Apple.  Amber & Josh are a young couple very much in love. Although Amber is a 'dizzy' blonde, Josh worships her. Then we have Stephanie, an actress from Baltimore who finds herself attracted to the shy Ryan. 

Their story starts with an energised opening in Don't Stop Me Now... 

...as Stephanie explains she is from Baltimore and loves the musicals of the Sixties. 

When alone, Danny and Megan express their past love for each other in Tonight, ... 

...., joined by the others in a modern version of America. 

Josh and Amber tell the others they met whilst working on the musical Grease...

...giving their rendition of You're the One That I Want....    

... and Summer Nights.  

The others soon notice that Ryan likes Stephanie but she explains that she is Holding Out For A Hero in her life.

Uptight, Ryan decided to loosen up with Footloose.  

After which, Megan and Danny feel wicked and sing As Long As You're Mine...  

...and Defying Gravity. 

The girls then tease the boys with their version of Shakalaka Baby...  

...before everybody joins in for an explosive performance of  Jai Ho. 

*really explosive cos got fire-blowers and fire-dancers*

* and Punjabi drummers*

Act II opens five years later and the girls are starring together in Times Square as Dreamgirls.  

Megan and Danny are celebrating their honeymoon and as they are waiting for the girls, they boys reminisce about when they all met five years earlier. Danny and Josh can't believe that Ryan hasn't proposed to Amber after all this time. He says they have both been busy working apart. They all leave for the Night Club as Danny sings Go The Distance.  

Once at the club, the boys lead in Night Fever ...

...whilst Stephanie taunts Ryan with If I Can't Have You.  

Josh urges Ryan to 'pop the question' but Ryan loses his nerve and leaves Stephanie to her own thoughts in Reflections.  

When they all return, Amber asks the DJ to play The Elephant Love Medley, which gives Ryan the courage to ask Stephanie to marry him. 

The concert finale sees all six stars singing their way through a medley of Glee, ...  

..., with a special finale from We Will Rock You...  

... to Mamma Mia!

*I think this was when they sang the 'Money, Money, Money' song*

It was a great show. Musicals are fantastic stuff. Just wish that it isn't so darn expensive..
