What have I done?

It's been quite some time since I wrote about something more serious instead of the usual girly babbles. So let’s talk about something more serious. Let’s talk about life.

Sometimes I feel like I have dual personality. One moment I fell like a teenage girl just given the key to enjoy whatever life has to offer. There are so many things to see, so many things to try, so many things to do, so many moments to enjoy. I skip around, feeling young, feeling free, and feeling alive. But at times, I feel so old with problems, worries and stress resting upon my shoulders. Eye bags showing, wrinkles appearing, bones starting to creak, late nights are getting tougher on me.

Where have all the years gone to?

Life can be like that. In just a blink of any eye, time has gone by. Never to return again.

Today is June 30th, 2010. Half a year has gone by and I caught myself thinking, what have I done?

I learned something when I was working in corporate. Twice a year, we got to do something called "Performance Appraisal" where we dig through old records, files, the whole mess to see where else can we get some points to justify why should be an A-performer instead of a B-performer. And every single time we are up for appraisal, you can just imagine the number of grumbles, complains and the "it's a waste of our time" comments I hear, one of them sound suspiciously like me *hide face*. Anyway, this is when my big boss comes and tells all of us to quit fooling around all he will fire us all :p haha..

...Nah, he is a nice guy. I remember he use to keep reminding us to record down all our achievements and what we have learn every week. Not just to complete our performance appraisal form but more for our own development.

...listen and learn from The Man.. Something so simple, yet difficult to do.

"I will write it tomorrow, becomes next day, and then the following week..Stop procrastinating. Sit down and get a pen and paper or just open a new word doc on your PC.

It's better to get it done the soonest possible. Just a couple of weeks ago, I had to submit a write-up about me and you know what, I spend so much time trying to remember my education path and childhood. Which year I graduated? Which year I started working? and etc..etc.. And it’s only been a couple of years ago.. What if its 10 years down the road? *smack head*

It doesn’t matter if it’s a lost tooth, an accident, a promotion, a pay increase, something your boss told you, something that you have learn, just write it down. I have learned the hard way and wished that someone have told me that before.

So here's my 2 cents worth of advice.. "Record before your life passes you by"..

:)

Sometimes, someone does something so sweet that it brings a smile to your face :)

When you least expects it..

When you can do nothing but smile goofy-ly back in return..

Thank you for being so random..

Thank you for being so nice..

Thank you for bringing a smile to my face..

Thank you for being you..

Thank you for the best years of my life..

Thank you for loving all of me..

I am lucky..

Sex and the City 2

I was feeling pretty excited when the movie came out. Not because I am a fan of it, nope, didn't even watch the first one or the series but I was more excited about seeing all the gorgeous, jaw-dropping, drool-dripping.. you get the idea .. SHOES!!!

  *picture taken from Google Image

Since I needed some kaki to watch with me, I decided to call my sisters for a Girls Night Out.

So yesterday night, the 4 of us headed to 1 Utama to catch it. Woots!

  *picture taken from Google Image

You can hear me swooning every know and then. Let me tell you, the shoes were absolutely gorgeous.. And the thing about them is that they wear super high heels eveywhere, even at home when they are watching TV or when they are chilling in their shorts and t-shirts. Crazy huh? I wonder how their feet can take it. Mine would most probable scream at me to take it off.

  *picture taken from Google Image

I like the gold one when she first appear. It just so bling. And the pink strappy sandles that she wore at the souk. They are absolutely beautiful *saliva dripping* Ignore the outfit tho. Can somebody please tell me where I can get them?

The wardrobe was really nice but for small size people like me, absolute no-no. I would definately swim in all those maxi dresses. If only I was taller :(

Anyway, the character that I like the wardrobe the best was Charlotte. She had a certain kind of elegance that I heart.

I do not understand why the reviews for this movie is bad. Most probably they were reviewed by guys who do not know how to appreciate them. For those who have not watch, here's my reason why it's such a good movie and why you should watch it..

Reason #1. They have amazing shoes and outfit. It's time you learned a thing or two about fashion.

Reason # 2. I learned a new word. " Inter-friend-tion". Its a term used when a friend intervenes when she feels that its necessary. It shows the bond between them and how they helped and supported each other.

Reason # 3. It inspired me to go for a camel ride. Things to do before I die.

  *picture taken from Google Image

Reason # 4. They each have a personal butler; who will carry your shoe and hold an umbrella for you if you need to take a walk down the beach, heat up milk for you at night, do facial with you and just basically wait on you hands and feet. Who wouldn't want that?

  *picture taken from Google Image

Reason # 5. Anytime you encounter an issue, take a sip. Problem solved. :p

  *picture taken from Google Image

Reason # 6. Girls are girls. We want the flirting, we want the attention , but we don't want the kissing. Such torture for the guys. We are mean aren't we?

Reason # 7. Whenever we feel that life is taking a toll on us, its time to take a break.

Reason # 8. Have you ever met people who lived in the past and they refuse to let go of their past? Sometimes we want our past so much that we screw up our future. We got to realise that we are growing up and that living in the past will make us lose out future.

  *picture taken from Google Image

Reason # 9. In a relationship, there should not be any secrets. Sometimes the truth hurts, but in the long run, it would be better for both. I think Carrie did right in telling her husband even if she almost lose him. In the end, she got him and she got her spakle back in her relationship. A huge sparkle. My kind of ring :p *

Reason # 10. We all make mistake.

And lastly, get ready a piece of tissue.. for the drool dripping from your mouth..

I want! I want! I want! *

* a note to future husband

What opportunity cost?

Couple of days ago, I had a conversation with Clem on opportunity cost. So what is opportnity cost, if you are asking?

This is the best explanation I could get as most were related to financial and investment meanings.

Opportunity cost : "The cost of an alternative that must be forgone in order to pursue a certain action. Put another way, the benefits you could have received by taking an alternative action. "

Hmm, not quite sure about the word "benefits" tho..

Anyway, I asked him about the things that he could have/ have done if we were not together. But he took the chicken way out and said "I dunno. Have not thought about it before" *Sigh*

Anyway, here's muh opportunity costs of being in a relationship :

1. Many boring, lonely nights. I get to hang out with the same boring people who have same boring, lonely lives like me.

2. Becoming a workaholic. Well, I will work late nights, no proper meals,  get fatter seating infront of the computer, more white hairs and becoming unhealthy.

3. More money. Well, diffinately more money, to spend on myself buying pointless, useless, artificial, materialistic stuff. Mostly on pretty things :p

4. Less free meals. I do not get to try new restaurants, new food, new adventure. I get to pay my own food and spend more money buying my own dinners, lunch, breakfast, tea breaks, desserts, ice creams. No Jap food, no Fish & Co, no Haegen Daz.

5. Extra attention. I get to savour the attention from some Tom, Dick & Harry who are more interested in my pretty face and body then my mind and personality.

6. Own personal driver. I get to drive myself eveywhere, all the time, listening to the radio all by myself.

7. No partner-in-crime. I do no have a partner in crime. I get to watch movies by myself, go shopping carrying all my purchases by myself, laugh at other people by myself, cry all alone, stress all alone, be all alone.

8. Less mushy. I get less hugs, less kisses and less "you are my world" stuff. I can skip the emotional attachments that may turn me into someone who is so lovey dovey that it gives me goosebumps.

So here's my take on what will happen to me if I am not in a relationship. Darn, what kind of benefits are this? Not being in a relationship is NO fun..

OH NO, what happend to strong, independant, macho Esther *shudder with horror*

Okay, i better stop before I go crazier with lack of sleep..

Toodles..

Utterly meaningless!

"Meaningless! Meaningless!" says the Teacher. "Utterly meaningless! Everything is meaningless."

What does man gain from all his labor at which he toils under the sun?

Generations come and generations go, but the earth remains forever.

The sun rises and the sun sets, and hurries back to where it rises.

The wind blows to the south and turns to the north; round and round it goes, ever returning on its course.

All streams flow into the sea, yet the sea is never full.

To the place the streams come from, there they return again.

All things are wearisome, more than one can say.

The eye never has enough of seeing, nor the ear its fill of hearing.

What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.

Is there anything of which one can say, "Look! This is something new"?

It was here already, long ago; it was here before our time.

There is no remembrance of men of old, and even those who are yet to come will not be remembered by those who follow.

The words of the Teacher, son of David, king in Jerusalem.

I survived 19th Pesta 2010!!

I'M BACK!!! Woohoo.. it's been a tiring 1 week.. Had an average of 4 hours sleep per night for a week.. I need a back massage, food massage and 28 hours of sleep to recuperate :p

I was away for a week with 1700 participants at the 19th Pesta 2010 @ Penang.. Crazy huh? Imagine the amount of preparation for the food, accomodation, transport, materials, logistics and so much more.. Kudos to the camp committee for doing such a great job..

Anyway, its much too long to blog about the whole 6 days camp so i'll try to sum it up..

Accomodation

1. Sleeping in classroom. Arrghh!!! My back cannot take it anymore. I use to be able to do it all the time, sleeping on classroom floors, outdoor camping with stones under your sleeping bag, and all that. But now.. I think I am getting older.. But thankfully it was wooden floor, not cement floor. And they put 35 girls into 1 classroom. Can you imagine the chaos? It was super cramp and we had to step oer people all the time. Dosen't it look just like a squatter house?

2. Stairs. Stairs. Stairs. See that dark wooden flight of stairs at the end of the corridor? Yep, we had to climb that ever time we needed to go to our room. And the floors were wooden. That means you can hear all the buffalos and elephants stomping up and down. It's gets really irritating especially when they start stomping up and down at 5am. The only good thing, I got tone thights from all the walking and climbing.

3. UNESCO Heritage Zone. We are staying @ Convent Light Street, which is under the UNESCO heritage site. It's such a beautiful school and I feel so previlege being able to stay there. Our classroom overlooks the sea. Imagine coming to school each day and hearing the waves from the sea. Bliss!!! And they even have an English Rose Garden in the compound. Double bliss!! Didn't get to take much pictures of the school as the programme was very packed..

Food

1. Din't take much picture of the food as every meal, I was super hungry everytime ( must be from the walking and exercise) and could not stop myself from charging at it :p

Looks good huh? Nah, this wasn't camp food. This was when we when out for lunch.

Competitions

1. Drill Competition. We got 7th placing out of 20 teams. Well, even if we din't win, I'm satisfied as we had done our best and who says we are not good enough? We proved you wrong didn't we.. Great job guys! And it was actually our uniform that pulled the marks down. Our drill were on par with the better teams.

2. Band Competition. Yep, we lost but the fact that we almost pulled out due to failure of commitement from members, we did make it thru. We went out there doing our best eventhough we know we might not win. Come on la, with only 2 weeks of practice and 80% new comers, how to compete? I was really unhappy with the judges. They were suppose to be professionals. They just kept picking on us and it seems they were saying we were wasting their time. Yes, we are lousy. You should have given some word of advise on what we can do to improved, not just pick on our mistakes and kept telling us what we did wrong. Screw you people!!! Do not compare us with 1st JB, 1st and 3rd KL. They are veteran. Yes, we were not up to your standard. So what? Was it specify in the competition R&R that only veterans can join? Bands who are younger are not allowed because we are not up to that standard? I do not think so. Oh wait, I think I'm wasting my precious time and space on people who are not worth it..

Here is 10th KL Band. So proud of them..

3. Singing Competition. Well, sad to say that the sound system was TERRIBLE!! Lesson learned : Don't choose a slow song..

4. Dancing Competition. We got 4th placing for this. At least we did not go home empty handed. Competition was really tough with alot of other fantastic dancers.

And I really got to post this up cos its super gay..

Activities

1. Opening Ceremony

2. Treasure Hunt around Georgetown. Legs feel like breaking. We had to complete as much puzzles, challenges, blanks as much we can.

India House

Baba Nyonya House

Little India

Mosque

House

Ahhh.. Love Lane..

3. Explore Penang. We had a few regions to choose from and I when for the farm trip (city girl mah). Never see kampung before. We stopped by the "look-out point" before heading to the farm. OMG!!! Some of them like never see chicken before. *starts panicking*

Duian. I love durians...

Ask the spoilt brats to soak their feet in the river, all barked at the idea with complains that their feet will wet their socks and in turn wet their shoes. After going in, they refuse to come out. Help me God!!! * look upwards*

This is how eggs are graded..

a 158 year old church

Learn someting new. Now I know what is nutmeg *sheepish grin*

3. Fun fair & B idol. I did not take any pic as I was busy playing too.. hehe... But it was super fun. Darn the group that bought over my stall when I just started making money. All my ideas to improve business cannot be carried out :(

Random stuff

1. Beautiful rainbow..

2. 10th KL Signature Pose (minus the 2 hooligans behind)

3. 10th Kuala Lumpur Boys' Brigade Company. Check out the pile of lugages behind them on the right. It's amazing how we manage to fit all this including them into 1 bus. Spoilt brats!!

Phewww... I survived 19th Pesta 2010!!
